About Symbiosis:-
Symbiosis, a multi-lingual, multi-national, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary educational complex of international repute, was established by our Founder Director Dr S. B. Mujumdar in 1971.Capturing the spirit of the biological term, Symbiosis was formed to promote global understanding between Indian & foreign students through education.
The Symbiosis College of Arts & Commerce was born in 1983, and is one of the many branches of the ever growing Symbiosis Society. Excellence in academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, a trail blazing diploma programme in Liberal Arts , accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC, the Symbiosis College of Arts & Commerce has been intensely committed to quality education in Arts , Commerce & Computer Science for the past twenty five years.
Living up to the motto of “the World is our Family” Symbiosis has students from across the length and breadth of the country as also the world. The established magazine “India Today” dated 28th June 2010, ranks our college amongst the esteemed few colleges in India in an exclusive survey of India’s Best Colleges.

Every educational institution has a purpose. Symbiosis has a truly unique purpose.
Set up to take care of international students studying in India and to provide them with a ‘home away from home’, the Symbiosis International Cultural Center was established in 1971. It has evolved from being a cultural center to a renowned educational family with a host of institutions offering quality education from Pre-primary to Doctoral programmes. The Founder Director and President Padma Shree Dr. S. B. Mujumdar believed that education is the best medium to inculcate international understanding among the students. He hoped that Symbiosis students would become ambassadors of goodwill for our country. He envisioned a multi cultural campus where students from different parts of the world would study together, live together and play together. Even today he believes that Symbiosis students serve the world well by going back to their countries and fulfilling their potential of being true ambassadors of goodwill. A true manifestation of Symbiosis, a botanical term, meaning ‘different species living together for mutual benefit’. The Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce is proud to be part of this family.
The college was established in 1983 and recently celebrated its silver jubilee. We are under Savitribai Phule Pune University and have students from approximately 36 Afro-Asian countries and from almost all the states of India. All these students learn an appreciation and tolerance of different cultures as they all study together, play together and live together.

Mission:-
Our Mission is to pursue knowledge through academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and to develop the learner’s personality with a strong value base.
We are committed to maintaining a balance between theory and practice. We endeavor to facilitate the learners to gain knowledge and experience, enabling them to achieve meaningful individual development and the well-being of society at large.
Infrastructure:-
This College has all the required amenities and infrastructure for the students. The College has sufficient classrooms, library having the required text books and reference books, e-library facility, Computer Lab. for students, Ladies Common Room, Audio-Visual Hall, Conference Rooms, toilets etc.
College also provides facility to the students like canteen, health-care facility, clean drinking water and hostel for the students who require the same.
The College also provides facilities like toilet, lift and ramp for physically handicapped students.
The infrastructure of the college is as per the norms of the UGC.
Extra-Curricular:/ Extra-Curricular Arts Circle
Objectives:
Exposure to Indian culture and tradition
Opportunity for students to perform and present their hidden talents, skill or art on the college platform.
Nurture hobbies and develop creative talent.
Some of the Activities:-
Participation in Inter-collegiate competitions for classical / western / folk / fusion dance
Classical vocal , SPIC MACAY
Painting
Mehndi competitions, flower arrangement, salad decoration etc.
About Library:/ Library / About Library,History & Establishment:-
Symbiosis College of Arts & Commerce established in August, 1983, so is the library. Over the years it is growing progressively by adding up infrastructure, collection as well as manpower.
Keeping pace with the technology, library adopted automated systems for its functioning and management and set up electronic library for its users. Grants received from UGC are used to enrich its collection.
Infrastructure & Ambiance:-
Library has a good infrastructure and pleasant ambiance. It is spread over 3 different locations at the SCAC college campus. Main library is situated at the ground floor, having 1250 sq. ft. of stack area and administrative blocks & 1250 sq. ft. of Reading Room. Reference Section & e-library is situated at the basement. This section has computer terminals for students to access e-resources of the library.
