Admission Procedure and Selection:-
The School opens registration for new admission for the nursery classes in the first week of January each year.
For rest of the classes,enquiry may be made during the first week of June.Depending upon the availability of the seats in each class,children would be required to take written entrance exams.
We are a Linguistic Minority Institution. As such, preference for admission will be given to children belonging to the Sindhi Linguist Minority group.
Child must be 2 1/2(Two and half) Years of Age by 1st of June of the current year in order to register
Birth Certificate: Copy of the Birth Certificate,issued by Municipal Authorites,and attested by a gazetted officer,is to be submitted along with the admission forms. Without birth certificate the forms will not be accepted.
Transfer Certificate: From Std.II onwards, admissions are finally granted on submission of T.C. from the heads of the recognised institutions,duly authorized by educational authorities. The last date for submission of T.C. is June 30.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARENTS:-
No Donation or Capitation fee( in cash or kind) is required to be paid for admission to any class offered by any of the St. Mira's School. All parents aspiring for admission for their wards are therefore cautioned against falling prey to any such assurance or offer by any individual ( Peon's , Watchman's, Maids Etc, ) or agency. Beware of unscrupulous intermediaries who offer to intervene on your behalf. You could be deprieved both of admission of your child as well as your hard earned money.
Activities:-
St. Mira's Primary and Pre-Primary Schools are dedicated to initiating the children on a path that enables them to become self-learners,capable of adjusting to the changing needs of the world. The School is spread over three and a half acres of land. Activities are designed using nature as a learning tool. A conscientious effort is made to inculcate in the child love and care for trees, animals, fruits and flowers.Along with extensive activity- schedule, the reading, writing and number skills are also learnt in an interesting manner, both in the classroom and also through computers and CDROMS.
For an all round development in the child's personality, besides imparting education of the highest quality, the school also provides the students with ample opportunities to engage in a wide variety of activites for self improvement and perfection.It inculcates in them a positive approach towards life, perseverance, a spirit of co-operation, co-ordination and sportsmanship.
A wide spectrum of activities is offered to cater to the palate of the young minds such as drawing, painting, colouring, clay-work, craft, origami, papermache, games, race, hurdles, sports, physical training, yoga, karate, music,elocution, dancing dramatization, story-reading, nature ramble, pet-care, etc.
St.Mira's School is a school with a difference. Other than the regular school activities, we have a few varied ones too. Students are placed in an atmosphere which enables them to grow in reverence for all prophets, saints and sages, the heroes of humanity of all races and religions.The school endeavours to create an atmosphere which may enable its students to grow in Love of God and the essential unity of all life.
Social Services:-
To inculcate the feeling of sharing among the students,we practice the ideal of service everyday in a humble way.Each day, a group of students visit orphanages or some or the other institution and offer food to the needy.
Bird Feeding :-
Each day a group of young students accompanied by their class teacher visit the Sadhu Vaswani Ashram and feed the birds and receive their blessings.
Distribution of food and clothes :-
From time to time students bring food, used clothes and toys from home which are distributed to the needy.
Brief History Of The School :-
The Mira Movement in Education was born out of the vision of a philosopher and an educationist- Sadhu Vaswani. Himself a distinguished Professor and Principal of prestigious institutions, Sadhu Vaswani was a visionary who believed deeply in the cause of woman's education, long before feminism was even thought of. He founded the St.Mira's School in Hyderabad Sind in 1933. After the partition, Sadhu Vaswani selected Pune as the headquarters for his work, as also for the School.
St.Mira's Educational Board was constituted in the year 1950 under the Chairmanship of Maharishi. D.K.Karve, who had watched the progress of the Mira Movement from its very inception. He had great appreciation for its ideals,and admiration for its Revered Founder.
The High School was started on March 1, 1950. Soon after,St. Mira's Primary School was started in 1952, with a mission of making every child a gift of God and a pride to the human race.
