Loyola High School And Jr Collage In Pune

About Us:-Loyola High School and Junior College
The purpose of the school is not only to impart instruction but also to educate the whole boy: to train his intellectual, moral, emotional, physical and aesthetic faculties.
The Objectives of the school are:

To help students become mature, spiritually oriented, men of character, free from egoism and self seeking behaviour and from all attempts to exploit their fellowmen
To encourage them to strive continually after excellence in every field without neglecting the welfare and needs of their fellowmen.
To value and judiciously use their freedom.
To be clear and firm on principles and courageous in action.
To become agents of needed social change in the country.

Infrastructure:-
Loyola is proud of its sprawling campus, and offers infrastructure that is acknowledged as one of Pune’s best. Set in the verdant surroundings of the Pashan hills and far from the hustle and bustle, the large grounds house the School & Junior College, the Fathers House, a large auditorium and adjacent library, and accommodation for teachers and staff.

A strong emphasis is placed on Co-curricular activities and to this end there are extensive amenities on offer, which include -

An Olympic sized (400 m) running track set on the main ground fronting the school
3 swimming pools - a paddling pool for young boys, a pool for lane swimming and a separate diving pool
Facilities for training in cross-country running
    A football ground
Basketball courts for seniors and juniors
    A well equipped library
Modern and technically up-to-date laboratories for experiments in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
    A music room
An Arts and Crafts facility with coaching available for students wishing to take the Elementary and Intermediate Art Examinations.
An airy canteen set in a garden
    E - Learning

Location:-

The School campus is set at the base of Chattushringi hill, accessed by a long tree lined drive that branches off Pashan Road. Adjacent to the campus are grounds belonging to the St. Joseph High School for girls. Pune University is 2.4 km away and the school is set at a distance of 6.4 km from Pune Railway Station. Bordering the access route to the campus is the Center for Police Research. The other major landmark is the National Chemical Laboratory, about a kilometre down Pashan Road.

The school’s location, secluded from commercial areas, and surrounded by centres of learning and excellence, provides an ideal stimulus for a growing young man. Once within Loyola environs, a boy is either studying or playing. No other school comes close – a testament to the vision of the founders.

Academics:-
Loyola High School and Junior College prepares it students for the Maharashtra Board SSC and HSC exams. The academic program is designed to impart a holistic education that produces problem solvers with a strong foundation in theoretical principles.

The course of studies includes Moral Instruction, Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General Science, History, Geography, Hindi, Marathi, English Language, English Literature, and Physical Training.

Great stress is placed on co-curricular activities in order to help the student develop in all aspects.

Rules & Regulations:-General Guidelines:

Both parents and pupils should keep in mind the following principles of discipline laid down in the Secondary School Code (1972), Rule 56.

Pupils should realise that they are responsible to the School authorities not only for their conduct in school but also for their general behaviour outside. Any reported or observed objectionable conduct out of the school on the part of pupil shall make him liable to disciplinary action. Parents or guardians are given to understand that they cannot dictate to the management and that the management has a right to say on what conditions it will admit or retain pupil in their Schools.

Attendance and Behaviour:-
Regular attendance and study habits, prompt obedience, courtesy in speech and conduct, cleanliness of dress and person are expected from each boy. Hence, irregular attendance, habitual idleness, unsatisfactory application to studies, disobedience, objectionable moral influence, and unsatisfactory conduct in and out of the school will justify the dismissal of a boy.

Students coming to school without doing their home-work, without books or found misbehaving in class are likely to be keep after school hours. For students of Std V to VII prior warning will be given, for students of Std VIII to XII, no prior warning will be given if kept after school.

For serious faults, PINK CARDS are given to the boy. Parents are then expected to sign and return the same to the Principal. For more serious faults GREY CARDS are given; parents are then expected to come and see the Principal on the next school day.

School Uniform:-
On school days and for school functions all the boys must be in school uniform: light beige shirt with the school monogram and dark beige shorts. Sikhs from Std. IV onwards are expected to wear turban. Boys in classes X, XI and XII may use long trousers (no drainpipes or bell bottoms).

In addition all the boys from class I to XII must have a P.T. uniform: House Colour shorts and singlet, and shoes (which are worn during P.T. periods only).

Uniform material is available with Apsara Dresses, Model Colony, Pune- 5 & also at Shoe Land NCL Shopping Centre, Pune-8.

Boys are expected to come to school in their school uniform. If for some valid reason a boy cannot wear his uniform, he should bring a note of excuse from his parents/ guardians. Anyone coming to school without an excuse is liable to be sent home.

Admissions»Rules & Guidelines:-

All admissions are based on the policies of the Management. The decision of the Admission Committee is final and binding. Since the seats are limited, all are requested to apply to other schools too. Kindly refrain from bringing recommendations or constantly requesting admission for those already refused. Parents of school students must be available whenever the School needs them.

Late Admission:-

In case of the late admission of pupils in the Secondary School the fee from the beginning of the term shall be paid by the pupils unless the fees for the period before admission have been paid to some other school. A receipt of these fees having been paid elsewhere should be submitted to the school office.

Co-Curricular:-
Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs), previously known as Extra-Curricular Activities serve to promote a variety of activities which all school students must attend alongside the standard study curriculum. Loyola High School believes that CCAs are an essential means to instill active social interaction and holistic education in a student. CCAs also promote the formation and growth of other important qualities such as leadership, healthy recreation, self-discipline and self-confidence.

The scope of CCAs is wide due to a nearly in-exhaustive list of interests. CCAs are held during and outside standard school hours and the activities depend on the nature of CCA. In addition, students are given some responsibilities, providing important training to prepare them for the adult world.
